Two (2) New Job Opportunities Available at ICLEI

ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability have two (2) new positions available. (Junior) Officer, Communications: Content and Marketing.

Deadline of Application: April 20, 2016

The successful candidate will be a part of the ICLEI World Secretariat based in Bonn, Germany. He or she will join the Global Communications Team, which is responsible for communicating ICLEI’s work clearly and effectively to a diverse global audience through a variety of products and channels.

The position is intended for someone with a communications or marketing background who is looking to directly influence and execute the global communications and marketing strategy of a dynamic, mission-driven global organization.


  • Degree in a relevant subject such as, Communications, Marketing, Media Studies, Journalism or a strong interest and proven experience in communications work with a degree in Politics, Urban Planning, Public Policy, International Relations or similar.

  • Very good oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong editing skills with an attention to detail.

  • Ability to transform technical documents into easy to read and catchy text formats suitable for a diverse range of communication products and needs.

  • Ability to quickly develop high quality products and texts.

  • Creative, motivated and proactive attitude and approach.

  • Organized working style, ability to follow through and deliver results.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented atmosphere.

  • Excellent command in English – both written and spoken. Proficiency in another language is considered as an additional asset.

  • Computer skills: Adobe Creative Suite, SEOs, HTML, MS Office. Experience with web content management, preferably Typo 3. Experience with databases would be an advantage.

Administration Officer

Deadline of application is on April 25

The successful candidate will be a part of the international ICLEI World Secretariat team based in Bonn, Germany and will be placed within the Administration team. The position is ideal for someone who wants to further develop an office management profile in the not-for-profit sector.

The Administration team is a department within the ICLEI World Secretariat, which takes care of the organizational key functions of the ICLEI e.V. and consists of 3 areas of expertise:  administration, finances and human resources.


  • Minimum of 1 year experience in office administration, preferably in an international organization or NGO

  • University degree (or equivalent) or completed apprenticeship in Office Management, Business or Public Administration, Business Management or related fields

  • Proficiency in MS Office, email and database programs

  • Excellent command of German and English

  • Self-motivation, pro-active attitude, good interpersonal skills.

  • Good problem solving skills and solution oriented approach. Ability to remain calm, cool and collected in stressful situations and under changing priorities.

  • Well organized, accurate and very attentive to details. Take ownership of activities and responsibilities.

  • Assertiveness, reliability and respect of required confidentiality

  • Interest in international collaboration and sustainability
