Job Opportunity: Two vacancies at ICLEI Europe
ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is an association of 1,200 local governments in 68 countries that are dedicated to sustainable development. It has 15 offices servicing its members while developing innovative projects and events and is an international notfor-profit association and network perceived as the international representative of cities for sustainability. The European Secretariat is based in Freiburg, Germany.
There are currently two vacancies at the ICLEI European Secretariat:
(1) Officer - Climate Adaptation and Resilience
The Officer Climate Change Adaptation & Resilience supports local governments throughout Europe in implementing innovative governance approaches and integrated management in a variety of urban themes, with a special focus on climate change adaptation and resilience. He/she will do this both in the framework of consultancy services and larger projects that ICLEI participates in. The Officer will be a staff member of ICLEI Europe’s team on Sustainable Resources, Climate and Resilience. He/she will be responsible for implementing projects and consultancy services in the topical areas of climate adaptation and resilience. The position is based on projects and services, and will be supervised by the responsible Line Manager as well as the responsible Deputy Regional Director (DRD).
(2) Officer - Climate and Sustainable Energy
The position of Officer, Climate & Sustainable Energy supports local governments throughout Europe in implementing innovative instruments and projects for integrated climate change strategies and planning and sustainable energy management, including climate services related to mitigation and adaptation, sustainable energy action planning, carbon monitoring and reporting, and smart city projects. He/she will do this both in the framework of larger projects and consultancy services offered by ICLEI.
The position will also include further tasks, especially associated to project and service acquisition, supervised by and in close cooperation with the line-manager/ Deputy Regional Director (DRD). The officer will proactively support the project development, the representative capacity towards European institutions and national governmental structures and institutions and thereby increase visibility and (economic) opportunities in the beforementioned topical areas. The position will financially be based on projects and services.
