Habitat III Major Players Include SUSTAIN Project Partners

So, who are the Habitat III major players? This is the question posed by CitiScope in their story published recently, and these major players include our SUSTAIN project partners.

ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, one of the Global Taskforce’s partners, is at the forefront of the Habitat III preparation, including engagement in numerous side events.

The Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) at Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands conducted an in depth analysis of the Habitat III issue papers. The analysis, which shows the overlooked links between Habitat III issue papers, has also been featured on Citiscope. "The image reveals an intense web of connections between the issue papers that would not be readily apparent to someone reading each paper sequentially, although the 22 documents are grouped into six thematic categories."

Likewise, Niki Frantzeskaki from the Dutch Research Institute for Transitions (DRIFT) and a member of the Urbanization and Global Environment Change (UGEC) Project Network has contributed comments to the Habitat III issue papers. The comments featured gaps, needs, recommendations, and suggestions for improvements on urban frameworks, such as on urban rules and legislation, urban governance, and municipal finance.
