The responsibility of knowing (better)? Research, education and advisory in the light of sustainable urban development.
Urban Sustainable Development Goal open workshop at IHS.
On May 20, 2015, IHS will host a meeting to discuss the educational challenges related to the new urban Sustainable Development Goal. We intend to discuss with a number of selected participants the new approaches in capacity building for urban development.
The aim of the workshop is to have an interactive meeting in which all participants can take part in the discussions. We hope to spark discussions between academia, research institutions, IHS alumni, former students, think tanks, networks, organizations and others urban agents involved in different ways in capacity building for urban development.
We would like all participants to be engaged in discussions around thematic tables related to SDG 11: “Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”. For this our intention is to include further participants (former students, IHS alumni, think tanks, networks, organizations, etc.) to enrich the dialogue and its outcomes. All the participants will be divided around the following thematic tables:
- Housing and slum upgrading
- Sustainable and accessible transport systems
- Participatory planning
- Cultural and natural heritage
- Vulnerability to disasters
- Environmental impacts of cities
- Green and public spaces
- Rural-urban linkages
- Integrated policies
- Support to least developed countries
